The British Standards Institute, (BSI,) have released their first ever Kitemark for the purpose of evaluating BIM work in the design and construction industries. The release of this rating will help construction businesses prove their capability in delivering design and construction stage projects which utilise BIM in their work in accordance with best practice.
The first organisations to achieve the Kitemark (for PAS 1192-2) are Balfour Beatty, BAM Ireland, BAM Construct UK Ltd, Garmon Construction Ltd, Skanska UK Plc and Voestapline Metsec Plc.
The rating is automatically available to all companies who have achieved Verification Stage with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, Tier 1 companies or not. Areas covered by standard include diligence in design and construction, supply chain management and delivery of Customs service excellence. It builds on the Verification Scheme of PAS 1192-2, with sampling done for completed projects, assessment of Customer Satisfaction through ISO 10004 Customer Satisfaction Guidelines for monitoring and measuring and will use additional assessment parameters through BS 11000 Collaborative Business Relationships.
